CREWS FIND BUS FIRE NEAR STATION
Jan 28-
LCFC was alerted for a bus fire in the area of Station
56 around 5:40pm. Chief 560 arrived on scene and
reported a small fire near the engine. Crews arrived at
Station 56 and grabbed a fire extinguisher. Fire was
extinguished and batteries to the bus disconnected.
Damage was contained to an electrical box under the
hood. Crews cleared by 6:00pm.

RIP GIRARD FD MEMBER N.GIACOBELLO
Jan 28-
Today LCFC attended the funeral service for A.F. Dobler
Hose and Ladder Company Life Member Nick Giacobello.
Nick had over 26 years of service with Girard and also
served our country in the US Army during the Korean
Conflict. Our Condolences to the family, friends and our
brothers at A.F. Dobler Hose.

THE LOSS OF OUR BROTHER WALT SUMNER
Jan 25-
One of our brothers has passed today. Walt Sumner was a
hero not only to the Cranesville community but to all
the areas of the county he responded to as RIT and the
hundreds he helped train as the torch for live structure
burn classes. When we were inside we knew you always had
our back. Continue to watch over us. Rest easy my
brother, we got it from here. To our brothers at Station
60 Stay strong, Walt will be with you on every call,
watching and guiding.

HIGH WINDS SEND CREWS ON MULTIPLE RUNS
Jan 17-
LCFC was dispatched
for multiple calls beginning around 5:15 this evening
for trees and wires down due to the high winds. Utility
566 responded with a full crew throughout the district
cutting and clearing trees and debris from roadways.
Crews returned from the last run around 8:15.

WATER RESCUE TEAM GOES TO EDINBORO
Jan 11-
LCFC was dispatched
around 11:30pm to stand by for a possible assist to
Edinboro FD with a flare sighting on Edinboro Lake.
Crawford County SCUBA team was also placed in stand by,
Crews responded to Station 57 and prepped for possible
assist. Edinboro Command ordered LCFC and Crawford
County SCUBA to respond non emergency to the scene. LCFC
Water Rescue 579, Boat 578, Utility 566 and Squad 577
responded with a crew of 8. Units arrived in Edinboro
and staged for further orders. LCFC and Crawford County
Scuba searched along the shoreline near the point the
flare had been sighted. Crews found nothing after
completing search. Command released all crews around
2:30am. The lake had approximately 3 inches of ice and
ice fisherman were present.

ONE CAR MVA ON N. CREEK ROAD
Jan 10-
LCFC was dispatched
around 10:00am for a one car rollover accident on North
Creek Road. West County Paramedics were dispatched to
assist as well as Girard FD for a Rescue on stand by and
STAT Medevac for a helicopter on stand by. LCFC Engine
563 and Squad 577 responded. Units arrived and found one
vehicle on it's side with no entrapment. One patient was
assessed and packaged for transport. Girard and STAT
were placed in service. Squad 577 transported one
patient to the hospital. Crews remained on scene until
vehicle was removed by tow company. Units returned
shortly after 11:00am.

CREWS RESPOND TO FIRE ALARM
Jan 2-
LCFC was dispatched
around 4:30 this morning to assist Girard FD on a
multi-residential fire alarm at Martins Landing. Engine
563 responded. Crews arrived on scene and met with
Girard's crew. A elevator smoke detector had activated.
Assistant Chief 541 ordered LCFC crew to investigate on
the 3rd floor. Crews found nothing upon surveying the
third floor and elevator shaft. After further
investigation the problem was found to be a trouble
alarm with the elevator smoke detector. Units were
placed in service and LCFC returned.

NEW MULE ARRIVES AT STATION
Dec 21-
LCFC received a new
Kawasaki Mule this afternoon from Off Road Express. The
Mule is part of the Kawasaki Loaner Program, which loans
equipment like the Mule to organization to assist as a
area asset, LCFC has been part of the program for a few
years and the Mule has been utilized for dozens of
Rescues and emergency incidents. Thank you Off Road
Express and Kawasaki for your continuing support to Lake
City Fire Company and the entire region!

ENGINE GOES TO PHB FIRE
Dec 20-
LCFC was dispatched
shortly after 6:00am to assist Fairview FD on a
commercial structure fire at PHB on Route 20. Lake
Shore, West Ridge and Cranesville were dispatched to
assist. Engine 563 responded. Crews arrived and found a
dust collector fire with smoke in the structure. Fire
was contained inside the dust collector and extinguished
with class D fire extinguishers. No extension into the
building was found. Crews cleared around 7:30am.

MEMBERS ATTEND STRUCTURAL BURN
Dec 18-Four
members from LCFC completed a structural Burn Session
held at Perry Hi-way. Robert Weber, Jeff Jobczynski,
Elizabeth Jobczynski and Tom Hosack attended the 16 hour
course. Session was held at an acquired structure on
Route 19. Thanks to all instructors and Perry Hi-way for
a great class.

CREWS RESPOND TO STRUCTURE FIRE
Dec 13-
LCFC was dispatched around 7:00pm for a residential
structure fire at a Hall Avenue residence. Girard,
Springfield, Cranesville Lake Shore and West County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Engine 563,
Engine 572, Squad 577 and Utility 566 responded shortly
after dispatch. Crews arrived on scene and found smoke
showing from the attic of the single story home. Crews
made entry and found fire in the attic space above the
garage and kitchen. Fire was contained to the attic and
extinguished, Overhaul was completed and crews were
released around 9:30pm.

ONE CAR MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT
Dec 4-
LCFC was dispatched around 3:45am for a one car vehicle
accident on Middle Road near Fairplain Road. West County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist. Squad 577 and
Engine 563 responded shortly after dispatch. LCFC 56 L1
arrived on scene and reported 1 vehicle into a tree with
entrapment and injuries. Girard FD Rescue 558 was
requested to assist. LCFC and Paramedics arrived on
scene and began patient care. 1 Patient was extricated
and packaged. Squad 577 transported one patient ALS
priority 1 to Hamot. crews remained on scene until
vehicle was cleared by tow truck. All units were cleared
by 5:15.

MULE ASSISTS TO KEARSARGE FD
Nov 13-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Kearsarge FD with the Mule
on a Brush Fire in the area of Treetop Drive shortly
around 7:30aUtility 566 with the Mule responded shortly
after dispatch. Crews had been working on scene for
approximately 2 hours prior to LCFC being requested.
LCFC arrived on scene and unloaded the Mule. The mule
and a crew of 3 responded back into the area of the
brush fire. LCFC assisted in overhaul and transporting
tools and equipment out of the fire scene. Over 14 Fire
Departments were involved in the incident. LCFC cleared
the scene around 10:00am.

EARLY MORNING 1 CAR MVA
Nov 12-
LCFC was dispatched around 4:00am for a vehicle accident
in the area of West Lake Road and Godfrey Road. West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Squad
577 and Engine 563 responded. Units arrived on scene and
found 1 vehicle with moderate damage and entrapment.
Crews attended to patient and removed passenger side
door. Patient was removed from vehicle and loaded into
Squad 577 for transport. Squad 577 transported one
patient to the hospital. Engine 563 and PA State Police
remained on scene until vehicle was removed. All units
cleared around 5:00am.

ASSIST TO 54 OF BRUSH FIRE
Nov 6-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Station 64 on a structure
fire around 3:45am at a Geneva Marie Lane residence.
Cranesville was dispatched to assist with RIT. Engine
563, Engine 572 and Squad 577 responded. Girard Chief
540 arrived on scene and reported a large brush
fire in the woods with no exposure to home. Platea FD
Tanker and Brush Truck, Cranesville FD Brush Truck and
Fairview FD Brush Truck were added to the alarm. Crews
worked to contain and extinguish the fire. Fire was
under control around 5:00am. All units cleared the scene
around 6:00am.
