Off Road Rescue/ Mule Response

 
    The Lake City Fire Company along with the dedication of Cycle City offers a Off Road Rescue/ Mule Response service to the region. This response equipment includes a Kawasaki 4X4 Mule (Loaned by Cycle City of Erie, PA) and a All-Terrain Res-Q trailer. The mule is capable of carrying 4 occupants comfortably and has room in the bed for tools and equipment.

The rescue trailer manufactured by All-Terrain Res-Q is capable of carrying 1 patient and 1 attendant.

     Since the beginning of the Off Road Rescue services in 2007 the mule has been used many times in the Lake City Fire Company response district and also to assist to neighboring departments on incidents. Below are a list of some of the incidents:

10/07/08- Assist to Girard with Search Detail on Dagget Road.

10/09/07- Assist to Fairview with fall victim from horse in woods.

07/08/08- Assist to Springfield with ATV accident on McKee Road.

09/06/08- Assist to Springfield with ATV accident on Scott Road.

10/04/08- Standby at Edinboro University during Homecoming.

10/21/2008- Assist to Girard with fall victim near Elk Creek.

11/04/08- Assist to Springfield with logging accident off of Route 5.

11/27/08- Rescue/Recovery Elk Creek near tubes.

07/24/09- Assist to Cranesville with logging accident on West Road.

09/18/09- Water rescue Elk Creek near tubes.

12/05/10- Assist to Albion with fall victim from tree stand off Griffey Road.

 

  The Mule also is used to assist on brush fires. The unit allows for manpower and equipment to respond to the fire scene where other vehicles cannot fit or the terrain is too rough.
