Dec 21-LCFC received a new
Kawasaki Mule this afternoon from Off Road Express. The
Mule is part of the Kawasaki Loaner Program, which loans
equipment like the Mule to organization to assist as a
area asset, LCFC has been part of the program for a few
years and the Mule has been utilized for dozens of
Rescues and emergency incidents. Thank you Off Road
Express and Kawasaki for your continuing support to Lake
City Fire Company and the entire region!
ENGINE GOES TO PHB FIRE
Dec 20-LCFC was dispatched
shortly after 6:00am to assist Fairview FD on a
commercial structure fire at PHB on Route 20. Lake
Shore, West Ridge and Cranesville were dispatched to
assist. Engine 563 responded. Crews arrived and found a
dust collector fire with smoke in the structure. Fire
was contained inside the dust collector and extinguished
with class D fire extinguishers. No extension into the
building was found. Crews cleared around 7:30am.
MEMBERS ATTEND STRUCTURAL BURN
Dec 18-Four
members from LCFC completed a structural Burn Session
held at Perry Hi-way. Robert Weber, Jeff Jobczynski,
Elizabeth Jobczynski and Tom Hosack attended the 16 hour
course. Session was held at an acquired structure on
Route 19. Thanks to all instructors and Perry Hi-way for
a great class.
CREWS RESPOND TO STRUCTURE FIRE
Dec 13-
LCFC was dispatched around 7:00pm for a residential
structure fire at a Hall Avenue residence. Girard,
Springfield, Cranesville Lake Shore and West County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Engine 563,
Engine 572, Squad 577 and Utility 566 responded shortly
after dispatch. Crews arrived on scene and found smoke
showing from the attic of the single story home. Crews
made entry and found fire in the attic space above the
garage and kitchen. Fire was contained to the attic and
extinguished, Overhaul was completed and crews were
released around 9:30pm.

ONE CAR MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT
Dec 4-
LCFC was dispatched around 3:45am for a one car vehicle
accident on Middle Road near Fairplain Road. West County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist. Squad 577 and
Engine 563 responded shortly after dispatch. LCFC 56 L1
arrived on scene and reported 1 vehicle into a tree with
entrapment and injuries. Girard FD Rescue 558 was
requested to assist. LCFC and Paramedics arrived on
scene and began patient care. 1 Patient was extricated
and packaged. Squad 577 transported one patient ALS
priority 1 to Hamot. crews remained on scene until
vehicle was cleared by tow truck. All units were cleared
by 5:15.

MULE ASSISTS TO KEARSARGE FD
Nov 13-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Kearsarge FD with the Mule
on a Brush Fire in the area of Treetop Drive shortly
around 7:30aUtility 566 with the Mule responded shortly
after dispatch. Crews had been working on scene for
approximately 2 hours prior to LCFC being requested.
LCFC arrived on scene and unloaded the Mule. The mule
and a crew of 3 responded back into the area of the
brush fire. LCFC assisted in overhaul and transporting
tools and equipment out of the fire scene. Over 14 Fire
Departments were involved in the incident. LCFC cleared
the scene around 10:00am.
EARLY MORNING 1 CAR MVA
Nov 12-
LCFC was dispatched around 4:00am for a vehicle accident
in the area of West Lake Road and Godfrey Road. West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Squad
577 and Engine 563 responded. Units arrived on scene and
found 1 vehicle with moderate damage and entrapment.
Crews attended to patient and removed passenger side
door. Patient was removed from vehicle and loaded into
Squad 577 for transport. Squad 577 transported one
patient to the hospital. Engine 563 and PA State Police
remained on scene until vehicle was removed. All units
cleared around 5:00am.

ASSIST TO 54 OF BRUSH FIRE
Nov 6-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Station 64 on a structure
fire around 3:45am at a Geneva Marie Lane residence.
Cranesville was dispatched to assist with RIT. Engine
563, Engine 572 and Squad 577 responded. Girard Chief
540 arrived on scene and reported a large brush
fire in the woods with no exposure to home. Platea FD
Tanker and Brush Truck, Cranesville FD Brush Truck and
Fairview FD Brush Truck were added to the alarm. Crews
worked to contain and extinguish the fire. Fire was
under control around 5:00am. All units cleared the scene
around 6:00am.

SEALEGS AMPHIBIOUS CRAFT DEMO

28-
LCFC spent today with a Sealegs Amphibious demo boat
from a Cleveland based dealership. LCFC is currently
seeking possible funding for a new rescue boat and the
Sealegs craft is one of the proposed boats. The Sealegs
boat offers many advantages with its hydraulic wheels
that allow for driving from a trailer over a beach or
other area and into the water. LCFC was impressed with
the boat. After testing in Elk Creek, Lake Erie and on
Presque Isle the demo unit left.
ROUTE 5 MVA
Oct
21-
LCFC was dispatched around 4:00pm for a two car MVA on
Route 5 near Mason Farms. were dispatched to assist.
West County Paramedics Engine 563, Squad 577 and Utility
566 responded. Units arrived on scene and found 2
vehicles with moderate damage. 1 patient was assessed
and packaged. Squad 577 transported 1 patient to the
hospital. Crews remained on scene for traffic control.
All units were clear by 5:30.
ASSIST TO STATION 64 ON FIRE

11-
LCFC was dispatched around 10:00pm to assist Springfield
FD with a residential structure fire on Eagley Road.
Girard, Cranesville, Platea and West County Paramedics
were also dispatched to assist. LCFC Engine 572 and
Engine 563 responded shortly after dispatch. Units
arrived on scene with a working fire. Crews contained
the fire to one room, however smoke and heat damage was
sustained throughout. Crews cleared the scene around
1230am.
MULE TRANSFER TO STATION 38
Oct
8-
LCFC was requested by Edinboro FD for the Mule and a
crew of 2 to assist with a stand by for the Edinboro
University Homecoming parade festivities. LCFC crew
stood by on the Edinboro University campus from
approximately 9:00am until 2:30pm. No incidents
occurred.
CREWS RESPOND TO REPORTED FIRE

LCFC was dispatched around 7:45pm in the area of Elk
Valley Elementary School. Girard, Springfield,
Cranesville, Lake Shore and West County Paramedics were
dispatched to assist. Engine 572, Squad 577 and utility
566 responded. Units arrived in the area and
investigated. After investigating it was found a bon
fire at the Girard High School caused a resident to call
in what looked like flames coming from the Elementary
School. All units were placed in service.

2 CAR MVA ON RICE AVE
Sept 27-
LCFC was dispatched around 6:20pm for a 2 car MVA in the
area of Rice and Sampson Ave. West County Paramedics
were dispatched to assist. Utility 566, Engine 563 and
Squad 577 responded. Units arrived on scene and found 2
vehicles with moderate damage in the intersection. 2
patients, self extricated, were evaluated. Squad 577
transported 1 patient to the hospital, the second
refused. Crews cleaned up debris and vehicle fluids. All
units cleared shortly after 7:00pm.
SMITH STREET MVA/PEDESTRIAN STRUCK
Sept 22-
LCFC was dispatched around 12:40 pm for a reported
vehicle accident/ pedestrian struck on Smith Street near
Falls Drive. West County Paramedics were dispatched to
assist. Utility 566 and Squad 577 responded. Crews
arrived to find one SUV versus a riding lawnmower on
a trailer with patient ejection from mower. Crews
stabilized patient and packaged for transport. Squad 577
transported 1 patient to the hospital. Crews remained on
scene to clean up gas spill and debris. All units were
clear around 1:20pm.

STRUCTURE FIRE STERLING TECHNOLOGY
Sept 16-
LCFC was dispatched shortly after noon for a commercial
structure fire at Sterling Technology on Keystone Drive.
Girard, Springfield, Cranesvile, Lake Shore and West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. Engine 563
responded and arrived to find smoke showing from the
rear of the structure. Crews entered the facility and
were met by employees who stated a plastics molding
machine had caught fire. Crews pulled a handline and
assessed the machine. Fire was extinguished and crews
checked for extension. All fire was contained to
machine. All units were cleared around 1:30pm.
WATER RESCUE TEAM DEPLOYMENT
Sept 8-
LCFC was notified by PEMA around noon today for
deployment of the Water Rescue Team to areas affected by
tropical Storm Lee's Flooding. Glade Fd in Warren
County, PA also got the call for deployment. LCFC and
Glade responded from Region 2 around 3:00pm. Crews
arrived in the Bloomsburg area and set up for the night.
Crews conducted multiple rescue/flood evacuations all
day on Friday in floodwaters exceeding 16' in depth.
Region 2 team assisted in the evacuations of over 40
people and multiple animals as well. Region 2
teams were released to return on Saturday around 11:00am
from the deployment. Great job to all teams on
deployment we had the privilege to work with!
ATV ACCIDENT ON MIDDLE ROAD
Sept 5-
LCFC was dispatched shortly after 6:30 this evening for
an All Terrain Vehicle accident in the area of Middle
Road and Fairplain Road. Fairview FD for a squad and
West County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. Squad
577, Engine 563 and Utility 566 responded. Crews arrived
on scene and found 2 patients with injuries from a ATV
versus tree accident. Patients were assessed and
packaged. LCFC Squad 577 and Fairview Squad 538 both
transported 1 patient to the hospital. Crews cleared the
scene around 7:00pm.
WATER RESCUE TEAM ASSIST TO STATION 64
Sept 3-
LCFC was dispatched to stand by the station for a
possible assist to Springfield FD on a search detail for
3 overdue individuals who had been swimming in the area
of Raccoon Park. Station 56 and 57 answered up shortly
after dispatch. Springfield Chief 640 ordered LCFC to
respond priority 2 to the scene. Water Rescue 579 and
Boat 578 responded to Elk Creek Access for Launch and
Utility 566 with the Kawasaki Mule and Squad 577
responded to Raccoon Park. As Rescue 579 and Boat 578
arrived at Elk Creek Access Springfield command placed
all units in service, 3 over due individuals were
located. All units returned.

WATER RESCUE ASSIST TO FAIRVIEW FD
Aug 30-
LCFC was dispatched around 8:00am to assist Fairview FD
and US Coast Guard on a possible water rescue near
Avonia Beach on Lake Erie. Caller reported a possible
capsized vessel in that area. Lake Shore Fd and West
County paramedics were dispatched to assist as well.
LCFC Water Rescue 579 and Boat 578 responded to Elk
Creek to launch. Squad 577 responded to the callers
location on Pine Gate Road. LCFC Boat 578 responded to
Lake Erie and began travel toward Avonia Beach. LCFC
Boat 578 arrived on scene with Lake Shore Boat 509 and
US Coast Guard Erie Vessel. Crews conducted search for
vessel. A Helo from US Coast Guard Station Detroit
arrived and assisted in the search, Around 11:00am
search was called by Coast Guard with no findings. All
units returned.
MULE RESPONDS TO INJURED HIKER
Aug 26-
LCFC was dispatched for a injured hiker in the Bluff's
State Park around 11:30am. Utility 566 with the Kawasaki
Mule and Squad 577 responded. Crews arrived at the
Bluff's parking lot and unloaded the Mule. Crews were
informed by two hikers in the parking lot that a women
with a sprained ankle was on a trail near the lake and
unable to make her way out due to the injury. Mule with
a crew of four responded to the scene. The Mule
negotiated through the rough terrain trails and located
the injured hiker. Crew assisted injured hiker onto the
Mule. The Mule transported the patient out to the
parking lot. patient refused transport to the hospital
by squad. All units were in service by 12:30pm.
PREDEPLOYMENT FOR HURRICANE IRENE
Aug 24-
LCFC was notified by Pennsylvania Emergency Management
to begin pre deployment preparations for
possibleWater Rescue Team deployment to areas
affected by the approaching Hurricane Irene. Crews have
begun packing and equipment checks to be ready if called
upon. The crew consists of 7 Water Rescue Techs
and 2 Support Personnel. Equipment in pre-deployment
status consist of Utility 566 and a Supply trailer,
Squad 577, Water Rescue 579 with Boat 578, EMA Truck and
the Kawasaki Mule. Glade Fire Department in Warren
County will also respond with LCFC if activated.
ASSIST TO GIRARD ON SEARCH DETAIL
Aug 18-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Girard FD with the
Kawasaki Mule and manpower on a search detail at Girard
Boro Park around 10:20pm. Utility 566 with the mule,
Squad 577 and Assistant Chief 561 ATV responded. Crews
arrived at the Girard Boro Park and met with Command for
a briefing. Five Star K9 Search and Rescue Team and
members of Fairview Fd began to search the woods near
the command post. Erie County Dispatch was able to
locate the coordinates for the missing individuals cell
phone. The Mule, 561 ATV and K9 S&R team relocated to
area of the coordinates. After a brief search crews
located the missing individuals cell phone. Command
released all units around 12:30am , the police
department continued their investigation.
LCFC PARTICIPATES IN 9/11 BEAM ESCORT
Aug 16-
LCFC Engine 572
participated in the escorting of the Erie 9/11 Memorial
WTC Beam from I-90 and Sterretania to Erie Insurance,
the future home of the Erie, PA 9/11 Memorial site thie
evening. Apparatus from approximately 7 other
departments, the Sheriffs office and a group of about 20
motorcycles took part in the escort detail. Thank you
City of Erie Councilman Mark Aleksandrowicz and others
involved in this project for your hard work to create a
9/11 memorial in Erie. Visit

MULE GOES TO EDINBORO ON SEARCH
Aug 7-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Edinboro FD with the
Kawasaki Mule on a search detail around 10:00pm. Utility
566 and the mule responded with a crew of 3. A missing
person was reported to authorities in the area of Fry
Road and Route 6N in Edinboro. U566 and the Mule arrived
on scene and were given orders to unload the Mule and
conduct a road search along Fry Road. Nothing was found
during road search. Mule was then requested to search
along a trail off of Fry road where a K-9 Unit had
picked up on something. While searching on trail all
units were placed in service. Missing individual was
located safe at their residence. The mule returned to
U566 and was secured. All units cleared around 12:30am.
Franklin Township FD, Cranesville FD, McKean FD,
Waterford FD, Five Star K9 S&R Team, Edinboro Police
and PSP all assisted on scene.
BOAT 578 ASSIST ON VESSEL IN DISTRESS
Aug 7-
LCFC was dispatched around 3:30pm to assist Lake Shore
FD, US Coast Guard and PA Fish and Boat Commission with
a vessel taking on water off of Walnut Creek. Water
Rescue 579, Boat 578 and Squad 577 responded. Lake Shore
Boat 509 went underway to search for the vessel. LCFC
units arrived at Walnut Creek and Boat 578 was launched.
Boat 509 located the vessel and found it unable to power
up and taking on water. Boat 578 arrived and assisted in
escorting the vessel into Walnut Creek Access. Boat 509
towed vessel to dock. Units were placed in service once
vessel was secured at Walnut Creek Access courtesy dock.
WATER RESCUE TEAM GOES TO FAIRVIEW

5-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Fairview FD on a water
rescue off of Avonia Beach around 4:30pm. A report of a
capsized kayak with 2 people in the water in PFD's was
given by dispatch. Water Rescue 579, Boat 578 and Squad
577 responded.
US Coast Guard, Lake Shore FD and West County Paramedics
also responded. Units arrived at Avonia Beach and Boat
578 was positioned to launch. Prior to launch crews
received notification that the kayakers were not in
distress and back underway. A visual on the kayakers was
made and crews confirmed they were ok. Command placed
all units in service.
ONE CAR MORNING MVA
Aug 2-
LCFC was dispatched around 7:30am for a one car mva at
Middle Road and Fairplane Road. West County Paramedics
were dispatched to assist as well. Squad 577 and Utility
566 responded. Units arrived on scene and found 1
vehicle off the roadway in a ditch with minor damage.
Patient was self extricated and uninjured. Squad 577 and
West County paramedics cleared the scene and U566
remained on scene until vehicle was removed by West
County Towing.

ASSIST TO WLFD ON 3 PEOPLE IN THE WATER
July 29-
LCFC was dispatched to assist West Lake FD on a
watercraft in distress on Lake Erie off of Kelso Beach
around 10:45am. Water Rescue 579, Rescue Boat 578 and
Utility 566 responded. Dispatch advised 3 people in the
water, 2 with pfd's, from capsized kayak and raft was
reported by caller. LCFC arrived at the beach and met up
with West Lake Command. The 3 individuals in the water
were retrieved by West Lake personnel utilizing a
resident of the areas Personal Watercraft. All persons
were confirmed accounted for and crews were placed in
service. LCFC returned.
WATER RESCUE/MULE ASSIST TO FAIRVIEW
July 28-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Fairview FD on a injured
person in Walnut Creek near the Dutch and Tow Road
around 3:30pm. Utility 566 and the Kawasaki Mule, Water
Rescue 579, Boat 578 and Squad 577 responded. LCFC units
arrived on scene and command requested the Mule to
respond to the creek. Mule 56 responded to the scene
approximately a quarter to half mile from Dutch Road.
Mule 56 arrived
on scene and met up with a crew from Fairview and West
County Paramedics. Patient was packaged and loaded onto
the ResQ trailer . The Mule transported the patient out
to Dutch road where patient was transferred to
Fairview's Squad for transport to hospital. The Mule was
loaded back onto the trailer and LCFC cleared the scene.
MISSING SWIMMER SENDS CREWS N.PIER
July 27-
LCFC was dispatched to assist West Lake FD on a missing
swimmer from a sailboat approximately 1000 yards of Beach 11 around 6:20pm.
Water Rescue 579, Boat 578, Utility 566 and Squad 577
responded to Presque Isle North Pier Lighthouse per
command. Units arrived on scene and launched Boat 578
from the beach. Boat 58 responded to the area where the
victim was last seen and began to search the water along
with US Coast Guard Erie and other agencies. Boat 578
returned after a primary search and retrieved two rescue
K-9's and their handlers. After a 3 hour search was
conducted Boat 578 returned to shore for retrieval. A
body was discovered in the water by divers and
recovered. Crews cleared around 12:20am.
WATER RESCUE ON PRESQUE ISLE
July 26-
LCFC was dispatched to assist West Lake Fire Department
on a water rescue at Presque Isle State Park beach 2
around 9:30pm. Water Rescue 579, Boat 578, Squad 577,
Utility 566 and Kawasaki Mule responded priority 2 to West
Lake Station. While enroute command requested LCFC
respond priority 1 for a confirmed 1 person missing in
the water. Units arrived on scene near beach two and met
with command. The mule was unloaded and retrieved Boat
578. Boat 578 was transported to the beach and launched
with a crew of two. Boat 578 worked with US Coast Guard
Station Erie which had two vessels on the water, US
Border Patrol with 1 vessel, Stat Medevac Helicopter
and US Coast Guard Helicopter on searching the waters.
Presque Isle lifeguards searched the waters off the
beach along with SCUBA team members from West Lake, West
Ridge and Sheriffs Department. Additional crews searched
from land. LCFC utilized the Kawasaki Mule to search the
shoreline as well. After hours of searching with no findings
Fire Department operations were concluded. US Coast
Guard continued their search. Lake Shore and Millcreek
Paramedics also assisted on scene.
LCFC RESPONDED TO CAPSIZED KAYAK
July 21-
LCFC was dispatched for a water rescue on Lake Erie
off of Elk Creek around 12:15pm. Girard, Lake
Shore and West County Paramedics were dispatched to
assist. Water Rescue 579 and Rescue Boat 578 responded.
Dispatch advised a capsized kayak with two people in the
water, 1 with a PFD, 1 without, approximately 200 yards
off shore was reported by caller. 579 and Boat 578
arrived at Elk Creek Access and launched 578. B578
responded out of Elk Creek and onto the lake. Girard
Rescue 558, Squad 557 and Lake Shore 504 responded to
the mouth of Elk Creek. As B578 began its search, Lake
Shore 504 reported the two people who were in the water
had made it to shore and were uninjured. B578 continued
on its search to find the capsized kayak. B578 found and
recovered the inflatable kayak and paddles, then
returned to the boat ramp at Elk Creek Access. All units
were placed in service and returned.
CREWS RESPOND TO REPORTED HOUSE FIRE
July 21-
LCFC was dispatched for a residential structure fire at
a Lake Street residence around 9:20am. Girard,
Springfield, Lake Shore, Cranesville and West County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist. Engine 563
responded. 563 arrived on scene with Girard 541 who
reported nothing showing. After investigation burnt food
was found to have filled the home with smoke. All units
were placed in service. Good outcome when temperatures
were in the low to mid 90's.
STANDBY FOR BOATING ACCIDENT ON LAKE ERIE
July 19-
LCFC was dispatched to standby West Lake FD Station 48
for a possible assist with a boating accident on Lake
Erie off of Presque Isle each 11 around 6:00pm. Water
Rescue 579, Rescue Boat 578, Squad 577 and Utility 566
responded shortly after dispatch. West Lake and
Lifeguard personnel were on the beach and reported a
personal watercraft vs boat accident with one person in
the water. A lifeguard on a PWC and US Coast Guard
arrived quickly and stabilized patient. Patient was
taken by boat to a dock near Sheraton Hotel on the
Bayfront. Emergycare transported patient from dock to
Hamot Hospital. LCFC was placed in service while enroute
to Station 48.
WATER RESCUE ASSIST TO WEST LAKE
July 18-
LCFC was dispatched to standby for a possible assist to
West Lake FD with a capsized vessel with persons in the
water on Presque Isle Bay around 8:15pm. Water Rescue
579, Boat 578, Utility 566 and Squad 577 responded
non-emergency to West Lakes Station for stand by. While
enroute, US Coast Guard Erie arrived on scene of a
capsized sailboat with 2 people in the water. US Coast
Guard retrieved victims and transported them to shore
for evaluation. LCFC was placed in service by West Lake
Command. LCFC units returned .
ASSIST TO LSFD ON POSSIBLE WATER RESCUE
July 16-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Lake Shore FD and US Coast
Guard on a possible water rescue 1/2 mile off of Walnut
Creek Access around 9:45pm. A flare sighting had been
reported in the area to US Coast Guard Erie. Water
Rescue 579, Rescue Boat 578, Utility 566 and Squad 577
responded. Rescue 579 and Rescue Boat 578 arrived at
Walnut Creek Access and met up with Lake Shore
personnel. Crews found a boat that was taking on water
at the boat ramp. Boat made it safely to the ramp and
crews confirmed the flare had been from this vessel. All
units were placed in service and returned.
OUTSIDE FIRE AT ELK VALLEY ELEMENTARY
July 16-
LCFC was dispatched for an outside fire at Elk Valley
Elementary School around 7:30am. Engine 572 and Utility
566 responded. Crews arrived on scene and found a small
mulch fire underneath some playground equipment. Crews
contained burning mulch and extinguished fire. No damage
was found on the playground equipment. Once fire was
extinguished crews removed burnt mulch from playground
and replaced. All units were clear around 8:30am.
ASSIST TO SPRINGFIELD FD ON MVA
July 15-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Springfield FD with a
Squad on a 3 vehicle accident at the intersection of
Route 215 and West Lake Road shortly before 8:00pm.
Squad 577 responded. Crews arrived on scene and found 2
vehicles with moderate to heavy damage and no
entrapment. Command ordered LCFC to attend to one
patient. Patient was packaged and loaded into squad 577.
577 transported patient to Hamot Medical Center with
minor injuries. Springfield Squad 647 also transported
one patient to Hamot.
ENGINE ASSIST TO 54 ON MVA
July 11-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Girard FD with one engine
on a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Route 20
near Dagget Road around 11:30am. Girard and West County
Paramedics were on scene working on one entrapped
patient. Engine 563 and Utility 566 responded. LCFC
units arrived on scene and were ordered to handle the
landing zone for STAT MedEvac. Crew set up the landing
zone and assisted with patient transfer to STAT MedEvac.
Once helicopter was airborne, LCFC was released from
scene.
CREWS RESPOND TO ODOR INVESTIGATION
July 10-
LCFC was dispatched for an odor investigation in the
area of North Park and Birch Street around 12:20pm.
Engine 563 and Engine 572 responded. Crews arrived on
scene and investigated. A strong sulfur smell was found
in the area. After investigating the source was found to
be a travel camper with a battery that had shorted and
began to off gas. Owner removed battery from camper and
crew cleared the scene.
MULE ASSIST TO SPRINGFIELD FD
July 9-
LCFC was dispatched to assist Springfield FD with the
Mule around 5:00pm for a ATV accident on McKee Road.
Utility 566 and the Mule responded shortly after
dispatch. Chief 640 requested a helicopter to the scene.
Springfield personnel and a West County Paramedic had
stabilized the patient and brought them out via a pickup
truck. Utility 566 arrived and crews were ordered to
assist with securing landing zone for STAT Medevac. Once
patient was transferred to STAT Medevac crew, LCFC was
released from scene.

2011 CARNIVAL COMES TO AN END
June 18- Thank you to all who supported the Lake City Fire
Company during our 2011 Carnival. Special thank you to
the volunteers who donated their time and/or skills to
assist at the event. Also thank you to all the local
businesses who provided Chinese auction prizes or other
items for the carnival.
Thursday night $500 Winner: Ann Foht from Lake
City, Pa.
Friday night $500 Winner: Jimmy Oneal from Erie,
PA.
Saturday night $5000 Winner: Roger Vojtko from
Girard, Pa.
STRUCTURE FIRE WITH 12 BUSES
June 13- LCFC was
dispatched around 3:15pm for a structure fire at the
Girard School District Bus Garage on Lake Street.
Girard, Springfield, Cranesville, Lake Shore and West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Engine
563, Engine 572, Utility 566 and Squad 577 responded.
E563 was first in and reported a working fire. Two
additional companies were added to the alarm bringing
Fairview and West Lake. 12 buses and the storage garage
were nearly fully involved when the first hand lines
were pulled. Crews extinguished the fire as buses were
pulled out of the garage by West County Towing. Once
building and bus fires were extinguished an extensive
overhaul was conducted, Crews cleared the scene around
7:45pm. Thank you to all departments who assisted on the
incident and stood by at fire stations of those working
the incident!
June 11- This morning
LCFC participated in the Erie Safe Boating Task Force's
5th annual Erie Safe Boating Day held at Liberty Park.
LCFC Water Rescue 579 and Rescue Boat 578 as well as
other water rescue equipment were on display at the
event. A crew was also with the equipment to answer any
questions and provide safe boating tips.

Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Customs, U.S. Border Patrol,
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Lakeshore Towing,
fire/water rescue boats, and more.
U.S.

Commission, Lake Shore Fire Department and many others
also had equipment on display on land and in the water.

LCFC RESPONDS TO REPORTED FIRE
June 5- LCFC was
dispatched for a reported commercial structure fire at
Sterling Technology on Keystone drive around 1:30pm.
Girard, Springfield, Cranesville, Lake Shore and West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Engine
563, Engine 572 and Utility 566 responded. Engine 563
was first in and reported smoke showing from the
building. Crews were met at the entrance by an employee
who reported a fire in a plastic mold machine that
employees had possibly extinguished. Crew entered the
building and found fire in the machine. A line was
pulled from Engine 563 and fire was extinguished.
Springfield and Lake Shore crews assisted with overhaul
and ventilation. All units were clear around 2:45pm.
ENGINE ASSIST TO FAIRVIEW
June 1- LCFC was
dispatched for an engine to assist Fairview FD at a
residential Structure Fire on West Lake Road this
evening. Engine 572 responded. Crews arrived on scene
and found nothing showing. No fire was found in the home
but a smell of electrical burning was present. After
investigation it was determined that a tree had fallen
on power lines and caused damage to the power feeding
two homes. LCFC was released from the scene and
Engine 572 returned.
BOAT 578/MULE GO TO EDINBORO
June 4- LCFC was
requested for the Mule and Water Rescue Team to assist
at the Edinboro Triathlon by Edinboro FD this morning.
Utility 566, the Mule, Water Rescue 579 and Rescue Boat
578 spent from 9:00am until 1:30pm in Edinboro. Boat 578
stood by on Edinboro Lake during the swim portion of the
event and the Mule followed the biking and running
portion. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

CREWS RESPOND TO MORNING MVA
May 29- LCFC was
dispatched for a motor vehicle accident around 4:30am
near West Lake Road and Maple Avenue. West County
Paramedics were also dispatched to assist. Engine 563,
Squad 577 and Utility 566 responded. Crews arrived on
scene in a trailer park and found one car into a parked
car with minor damage to one vehicle and moderate damage
to the other. A porch also sustained damage from the
impact. Patients were self extricated and refused
treatment. Crews assessed structural damage to porch and
stabilized to prevent collapse. Scene was turned over to
Girard Police. All units returned.
WATER RESCUE TEAM ASSIST TO WEST LAKE FD
May 11- LCFC was
dispatched around 2:00pm to stand by for a possible
assist to West Lake FD on a water rescue off of Lake
Front Drive in Millcreek Township. One occupant on a
raft that had drifted approximately 100 yards off shore
and unable to make it back was reported. Station 57
answered up and crews donned water rescue gear. As Water
Rescue 579 and Boat 578 responded
to stand by at West Lake station they were placed
in service. Occupant of raft made it to shore. US Coast
Guard Erie assisted.
ENGINE ASSISTS TO SPRINGFIELD
May 9- LCFC was
dispatched around 4:00am to assist Springfield FD with
one engine on a structure fire. Dispatch reported a
vacant home totally involved with collapse on Ellis
Road. LCFC Engine 572 responded. Springfield Engine 643
was first on scene and confirmed structure burnt to the
ground. Engine 572 arrived on scene and assisted with
water supply and extinguishment. Once fire was
extinguished, LCFC was released from the scene.

TWO CAR MVA ON MIDDLE ROAD
April 29- LCFC was
dispatched around 3:oopm for a two car motor vehicle
accident on Martin Ave near Mechanic Street. LCFC Engine
563 and Squad 577 responded. Crews arrived on scene and
found two vehicles with minor damage and no injuries.
Crews provided traffic control and cars were cleared
from roadway. LCFC units returned in service.
CREWS RESPOND TO SMITH ST. STRUCTURE FIRE
April 20- LCFC was
alerted around 1:45am for a residential structure fire
at a Smith Street residence. Mutual aid preplan was
dispatched for Girard, Springfield, Lake Shore,
Cranesville and West County Paramedics to assist. Chief
560 was on scene quickly and notified dispatch of
confirmed working structure fire and heavy smoke
conditions. LCFC Engine 563, Engine 572, Squad 577 and
Utility 566 responded shortly after dispatch. Units
arrived on scene and crews entered home. Heavy fire
conditions and burnt out stairs between levels 1 and 2
were found. An aggressive interior knock down was
conducted and crews brought the fire under control
within 45 minutes. Extensive overhaul was conducted to
check for hotspots. One resident was transported to the
hospital by Squad 577 with a smoke related injury. Crews
remained on scene until 5:00am. A fire marshal has been
called in to investigate.
LCFC ASSISTS GIRARD ON POSSIBLE FIRE
April 19- LCFC was
dispatched to assist Girard FD on a possible structure
fire at the Girard Dinor on Main Street around 6:00am.
Fairview was dispatched to assist as well. LCFC Engine
563 and Squad 577 responded shortly after dispatch.
First arriving units reported nothing showing. E563
arrived on scene and command had crew stand by. After
Girard's crew investigated, no fire was found and LCFC
and Fairview were released from the scene.
CREWS RESPOND TO TREES ACROSS ROADWAY
April 16- LCFC was
kept busy this morning responding to multiple reports of
trees across roadways caused from the strong winds.
Crews cleared trees from West Lake Road and Godfrey Road
and also removed cable wires from Railroad street. Units
were in service around 10:30am.
CREWS RESPOND TO REPORTED BRUSH FIRE
April 10- LCFC was
dispatched around 1:30pm for a brush fire in the woods
near off of North Creek Road. Utility 566 and Engine 572
responded shortly after dispatch. Units arrived in the
area and investigated. Crews found a broken electric
pole with the wires down on a tree. Tree was on fire.
Dispatch was notified to inform Penelec. Units stood by
for Penelec's arrival. Fire went out on its own. Crews
returned once Penelec arrived on scene.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION - SCBA CLASS
March 28- For this
weeks Monday night drill LCFC participated in a
Respiratory Protection- SCBA class held at Station 56.
Crew's refreshed their Self Contained Breathing
Apparatus awareness and also completed a obstacle course
in full gear. Thank you instructors Fred Gillespie and
Tom Palotas for a great class!
CREWS RESPOND TO REPORTED MVA
March 23- LCFC and
West County Paramedics were dispatched for a reported
one car accident on West Lake Road near Nursery Road
around 2:15pm. Caller reported a tree on a vehicle in
that area. Engine 563 and Squad 577 responded. Crews
arrived in the area and investigated. No accident was
found, though a tree limb along side the roadway was.
Units returned in service.
RIT ASSIST TO LAKESHORE
March 20- LCFC was
dispatched to assist Lakeshore FD with the Rapid
Interventions Team around 10:00am on a possible
structure fire at a Pasadena Drive residence . Engine
563 responded with a full crew shortly after dispatch.
While enroute LCFC was placed in service by command.

March 19- This evening
LCFC held its annual banquet at Nick's Place. The event
honors the members of the company for their dedication
and service. Thank you to all who attended the

WATER RESCUE TEAM ASSIST TO STATION 38
March 14- LCFC was
dispatched around 8:45am to assist Edinboro FD with the
Water Rescue Team for an animal rescue on Edinboro Lake.
LCFC Water Rescue 579, Boat 578 and Squad 577 responded
shortly after dispatch. Edinboro units arrived on scene
and reported one dog on the ice not in immediate danger.
Edinboro Command and the dogs owner were able to call
the dog to shore. All units were placed in service.
TRANSFER ASSIGNMENT TO STATION 53
March 12- LCFC was
dispatched around 3:45am to transfer one engine to
Fairview FD Station 53. Engine 563 responded to station
53 and stood by. Fairview, Lake Shore, West Ridge, West
Lake and Girard FD were on the scene of a working
structure fire on Eaton Road. Engine 563 stood by until

CREWS RESPOND TO ODOR INVESTIGATION
March 8- LCFC was
dispatched to a North Park Drive residence for an
investigation around 8:30pm. Dispatch advised homeowner
was using bleach on a floor in the home when it began to
react and let off a pungent odor. Engine 563 and Squad
577 responded. Units arrived on scene and crew geared up
with SCBA's. Crew entered home and began opening door
and windows to ventilate. The area where bleach was used
was diluted with water. Odor dissipated and crews
returned.

March 4-
LCFC was dispatched for a possible structure
fire around 7:40am at a North Creek Road
residence. Girard, Springfield, Platea,
Cranesville, Lake Shore and West County

advised homeowner reported smoke detector
activation in the home. Engine 563 responded.
563 arrived on scene and reported nothing
showing. Crews investigated and found nothing
visible inside the home. All incoming units were

WEST MIDDLE ROAD MVA
Feb 26- LCFC was
dispatched for a one car mva with entrapment on West
Middle Road around 12:40pm. Squad 577 and Utility 566
responded. Springfield was requested for Rescue 643 to
assist. West County Paramedics were also dispatched to
assist. Units arrived on scene and found one vehicle on
its side with two entrapt and no injuries. Crews
stabilized the vehicles and extricated patients with use
of a ladder. Units cleared around 1:45pm.
CREWS RESPOND TO RICE AVE MVA
Feb 21- LCFC was
dispatched for a car vs semi accident on Rice Avenue
around 11:30am. West County Paramedics were dispatched
to assist. Squad 577 responded. Crews arrived and
confirmed car vs semi. Car sustained moderate damage.
One patient was evaluated and refused transport. Crews
remained on scene for tow truck and traffic control.
Once vehicles were removed, roadway was reopened and all
units cleared scene.
LCFC ASSISTS AT FROSTBITE OPEN
Feb 20- LCFC Water
Rescue Team was requested to assist at the Joe Roots
Frostbite Open today on Presque Isle Bay. Squad 577,
Water Rescue 579 and Boat 578 along with a crew of 9 met
at Vista 1 on Presque Isle around 9:00am. LCFC along
with West Lake FD and Erie County Sheriffs SCUBA team
stood by in the event of a emergency on the ice during
the 9 hole golf outing. Crews conducted ice safety
checks through out the day. No incidents occurred. Crews
cleared around 6:00pm. Thank you to West Lake FD for
inviting LCFC to assist on the event.
WATER RESCUE TEAM STAND BY
Feb 14- LCFC was
dispatched around 1:30pm to stand by for a possible
assist to West Lake FD with an Ice Rescue on Lake Erie
Bay. Dispatch advised caller reported a vehicle through
the ice near Vista 3. West Lake and Presque Isle Park
Rangers responded to the area. LCFC answered up and
stood by the station for further orders. Crews on scene
conducted a shoreline search. Search turned up nothing.
West Lake command placed all units in service. LCFC
secured.
MULE ASSISTS ON MCKEAN SNOWMOBILE ACCIDENT
Feb
13- LCFC was
dispatched around 2:40am to assist McKean FD with the
Kawasaki Mule on a snowmobile accident near Osborne Road
in McKean Township. Edinboro FD and Central County
Paramedics were dispatched to assist as well. Utility
566 and the Mule responded shortly after dispatch.
McKean's crew arrived at the accident scene and
established patient care. Utility 566 arrived and Mule
with the ResQ trailer were unloaded. Command ordered
Mule to respond to the accident scene approximately 1
mile in the woods. Mule and ResQ trailer responded on
snowmobile trail. Patient was packaged and loaded onto
the ResQ trailer. Mule transported the patient out of
woods to awaiting McKean Squad. Patient was transported
by McKean Squad to Hamot ALS. LCFC units returned around
4:00am.
ASSIST TO GIRARD ON STUCTURE FIRE
Feb 2- LCFC was
dispatched to assist Girard FD with one engine on a
residential structure fire at a Honeybrook Circle
residence around 10:20pm. Fairview and Cransesville were
dispatched to assist as well. Engine 572 responded
shortly after dispatch. As units arrived on scene,
Girard command ordered all incoming units with the
exception of Girard to stage at Giant Eagle. Girard's
crew was able to control a heater fire in the residence
and all other units were placed in service. Engine 572
returned to quarters around 10:40pm.

REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE W/ ENTRAPMENT
Jan 31- LCFC was
dispatched for a residential structure fire with
entrapment at a West Lake Road residence around noon.
Girard, Lake Shore, Springfield, Cranesville and West
County Paramedics were dispatched to assist. LCFC Squad
577 responded while returning from a previous EMS call.
Squad 577 arrived on scene and reported nothing showing.
After investigation a smoke condition due to the stove was found and home was filled with smoke.
Crew assisted wheel chair bound occupant out of home. All
incoming units were placed in service. Squad 577
transported 1 patient ALS to the hospital.
CREWS RESPOND TO FAIRVIEW FIRE
Jan 28- LCFC was
dispatched to assist Fairview FD with a Structure Fire
on Pine Street around 8:30pm. Lake Shore, Girard, West
Ridge and West County Paramedics were dispatched to
assist. Dispatch reported an explosion with fire. Engine
563 and Utility 566 responded. First arriving unit
reported a fully involved structure. LCFC arrived and
Engine 563 assisted with pumper operations. LCFC crew
assisted in fire suppression, salvage and overhaul. Fire
was placed under control around 10:45pm. Crews were on
scene late into the night to ensure extinguishment. Home
was a total loss. No injuries were reported.
Jan 27- LCFC was
dispatched around 10:00pm for a Chimney Fire with
possible extension into the home at an Edge Park Drive
residence. Girard, Springfield, Lake Shore, Cranesville
and West County Paramedics were dispatched to assist.
LCFC Engine 572, Squad 577 and Engine 563 responded.
Units arrived on scene and found nothing showing from
the residence. LCFC crew entered the home and began to
investigate. Crews found a fire that was contained to
the chimney. All units with exception of LCFC and Girard
were placed in service. Fire was extinguished and crews
checked for any extension. No extension was found and
all units returned around 11:30pm
LCFC DISPATCHED TO STAND BY STATION
Jan 23- LCFC was
dispatched to stand by the station around 8:30pm. All
local fire departments were at the scene of a working
structure fire on Route 18 in Cranesville. Crews on
scene were dealing with not only the fire but multiple
problems with water supply operations due to the
freezing temperatures. LCFC stood by Station 56 to
handle any other emergencies in the area. No other
incidents occurred and LCFC secured around 11:00pm when
other departments returned from fire.
CREWS PRACTICE ICE RESCUE
Jan 17- LCFC
conducted an ice rescue drill this evening near the
mouth of Elk Creek. Crews met at Station 57 and were
given dispatch information of a person calling for help
near the mouth of Elk Creek. Water Rescue 579, Boat 578
and Squad 577 responded to the mouth. Crews arrived near
the area and investigated. One person through the ice
was found. Patient was unresponsive. Crews utilized the
Rapid Deployment Craft and made their way to the
patient. Once contact was made, patient was pulled onto
the RDC. The crew and RDC returned to shore. Once
scenario was complete crews returned to Station 57 for
evaluation of the drill.
UNITS RESPOND TO SMITH STREET MVA
Jan 15- LCFC was
dispatched for a MVA on Smith Street near Fall Drive
shortly before 5:00pm. West County Paramedics were also
dispatched to assist. LCFC Squad 577 and Utility 566
reponded. Units arrived on scene and found 1 vehicle
into a pole with minor to moderate damage and no
entrapment. One patient was packaged and loaded into
Squad 577 for transport to hospital. All units cleared
the scene around 5:30.
ELK PARK ROAD TRASH FIRE
Jan 7- LCFC was
dispatched around 11:40pm for an investigation in the
area of Elk Park near the tracks. Caller reported a
possible fire behind a building. Dispatch advised a
controlled burn in the area was reported earlier in the
day. Station 56 answered up and Chief 561 responded to
the scene to investigate. Chief 561 found a active trash
fire approximately 15 feet from a building and ordered
Engine 563 to respond. 563 arrived on scene and pulled a
handline. Crews used water and class A foam to put out
the trash fire. Once extinguished crews picked up and
cleared the scene. There was no damage to the building.
ENGINE GOES TO GIRARD ON TRAILER FIRE
Jan 7- Around
12:15pm LCFC was dispatched to assist Girard FD with one
engine at the scene of a working structure fire on
Shadybrook Circle in Imperial Point. Engine 563
responded. Crews from Girard, Fairview and West Ridge
had the fire under control. LCFC arrived on scene and
was ordered to assist with overhaul. Crews worked to
ensure all hotspots were out. The kitchen area sustained
moderate fire damage. LCFC was released by command once
overhaul was completed. Girard Squad 557 transported 1
patient from the scene to the hospital with possible
smoke inhalation. Crews saved the residence 5 cats from
the fire.
3 VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON WEST LAKE RD
Jan 7- LCFC was
dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries on
West Lake Road near Godfrey Road around 7:00am. West
County Paramedics were also dispatched to assist. Squad
577 and Utility 566 responded along with a West County
Squad. Units arrived on scene and found a 3 vehicle
accident, 2 vehicles with moderate and 1 vehicle with
minor damage. Two patients were evaluated, packaged and
transported to the hospital by Squad 577 and the West
County Squad. Utility 566 remained on scene for traffic
control until vehicles were cleared by tow trucks.
ASSIST TO 64 ON STRUCTURE FIRE
Jan 4- LCFC was
dispatched to assist Springfield FD on a residential
structure fire around 6:00pm. Dispatch advised flames
showing from a residence near Route 20 and 6N.
Cranesville, Platea, Conneaut and West County Paramedics
were dispatched to assist as well. Springfield 650
arrived on locations and reported flames through the
roof. Engine 572 and Utility 566 responded. Crews
arrived and found a working fire on the second story.
Crews worked to contain the fire. Girard was dispatched
to assist with their Rescue. After extinguishment,
salvage and overhaul was conducted. Scene was clear
around 9:00pm. Home sustained heavy fire and smoke
damage.
